Title: Occupational Therapy in Congregate Care
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will have an increased understanding in applying the occupational therapy process within a resident setting.
- Participants will describe a trauma-informed model utilized within a residential treatment milieu.
- Participants will identify novel leadership opportunities for occupational therapy practitioners within a residential setting.
Bio/Focus
Emily Walker, OT, is the Senior Clinical Supervisor within a congregate care setting. Join in as she shares about her experience in providing occupational therapy services to youth and families in congregate care programs. During this presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the application of the OT process in a group home setting, including evaluation, treatment planning, and delivery of interventions. This presentation also focuses on use of trauma-informed practices and models utilized in a treatment milieu and opportunities to expand leadership roles as an occupational therapy practitioner. This meeting will include a presentation, case study application, and opportunities for discussion.
