Licensing
"The Board of Allied Health Professionals evaluates the qualifications of applicants for licensure and grants licenses to those who qualify. It establishes rules and regulations to ensure the integrity and competence of licensees. The Board is the link between the consumer and the allied health professional and, as such, promotes the public health, welfare and safety." (mass.gov, 2024)
Licensure for OT practitioners is overseen by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professions.
Initial applications are processed by Professional Credential Services, Inc. (PCS).
APPLICANTS ARE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE ONLY AFTER A TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT LICENSE HAS BEEN ISSUED
Before you can apply for MA state licensure, you must have received your national certification by taking the
National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) OTR or COTA exam, on which you must score at or above the 70th percentile.
