Next Meeting: SIG Chairpersons: Mary O’Donnell, OT, OTR, OTD Haley Matuszek, OT, OTR, OTD Sarah McKinnon, OT, OTR, OTD General Schedule: Four meetings per year (quarterly) Focus: The Advocacy SIG is designed for OT/OTA students and practitioners interested in gaining knowledge and skills in state and federal level advocacy for issues that affect OT practice. Members will gain knowledge of the legislative process, key policies affecting OT practice in MA and federally, and skills to affect change through advocacy actions. Topics will include, but are not limited to, current federal and state legislative priorities for OT practice and education, tips on how to set up a meeting with members of Congress, how to plan advocacy initiatives on the grassroots level, and creating outreach efforts to improve advocacy efforts of MAOT members and Massachusetts based occupational therapy practitioners. |
