Title of Event/Presentation: The End-of-Life Client: Perceived Attitudes and Preparedness for an Underserved Client Population

Beth has been practicing Occupational Therapy for 16 years, with experience in acute care, short-term rehabilitation/long term care, home health, community-based practice, outpatient and academia. Her clinical interests include the terminally ill/end-of-life population, academia, the acute care population, mental health, and trauma informed care. Her 2021 doctoral capstone explored OTP’s perceptions of working with the terminally ill/end-of-life population.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this event/presentation, participants will gain knowledge and understanding from the oral presentations as indicated:
1. Identify the attitudes that occupational therapy professionals have about working with the end-of-life client resulting from PP-OTD Capstone.
2. Increase knowledge regarding the different types of education received during schooling or post professionally to identify gaps in professional readiness to serve the EOL population.
3. Identify feelings of OTP’s that may be associated with providing OT services to EOL clients.
4. Improve practitioner understanding of this underserved populations unique needs to promote advocacy efforts to further educate OT’s and increase client access to OT services.
