Title: Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation in Acute Inpatient Rehab Setting

Speaker:  Bracha Judowitz, OT and Tori Roth, OT

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Identify the different levels and types of spinal cord injury including ASIA scale
  2. Identify relevant durable medical equipment and specialty wheelchairs/shower chair needs at various spinal cord levels
  3. Discuss relevant assistive technology, adaptive feeding, and grooming equipment based on level of injury
  4. Identify relevant treatment options for interventions at each level of injury
  5. Discuss education and community resources for patients and families regarding SCI

Bio/Focus:

Bracha Judowitz, OTR/L, CNS, AIB/VRC, LSVT is a clinical specialist, occupational therapist. She’s been an occupational therapist for 6+ years, with previous experience with ABA therapy, now currently working at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation on the spinal cord injury unit. She has experience with patients with spinal cord injury, stroke, amputations, orthopedic injuries, and brain injuries.

Tori Roth, OTR/L, is a clinical specialist, occupational therapist. She’s been an occupational therapist for 6+ years working at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. She specializes in scripting patients for specialty wheelchairs based on diagnoses and medical need, as well as leading the amputee and cardiac program, as well as the inpatient wheelchair seating program.
