Presentation Overview

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) have been collaborating to create the OT Licensure Compact (OT Compact). Under the OT Compact, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants licensed in good standing in a Compact member state may practice in other compact states via a “compact privilege” which is equivalent to a license.

This presentation will outline the purpose and benefits of a licensure compact, address the advocacy needed to establish a compact, and provide an update regarding which states have enacted compact legislation or plan to pursue legislation in the future.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide information about the OT compact initiative in general as well as the possible implications for OT practitioners and students in Massachusetts.
