Serving Mental Health Populations using Nature-Based Occupational Therapy Practices and Interventions

SIG organizer: Emily Rasid, OT, OTR

SIG Presenter: Emily Rasid, OT, OTR

Inspired by a recent AOTA Pediatric Trauma Community of Practice Meeting! Join the Worcester Mental Health SIG as they review Laura Park Figueroa’s SIS article on “Nature Based Occupational Therapy for Children with Developmental Disabilities.” As COVID-19 restrictions continue to lift and the weather becomes more pleasant and tolerable, consider the benefits of nature-based OT practices.

SIG Objectives: Participants will:

  • Review and discuss overarching characteristics of nature-based OT practices and how they relate to serving mental health populations
  • Discuss experiences in using natural environments or elements of nature in OT practice
  • Identify barriers to implementing nature-based interventions into practice
  • Identity ways this may inform individual occupational therapy practice for mental health populations

ZOOM link will be sent prior to event
