Join us for two informative presentations by Dr. Sarah DiMeo, OT, Ph.D., OTR on Incorporating Vocational Experiences in School-Based Occupational Therapy with Elementary and Middle School Populations and Dr. Tee Stock, OT, OTD, MSOT, MBA, OTR on the Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO–OP) method. Bios: Dr. Sarah DiMeo is a professor of occupational therapy at Worcester State University. Dr. DiMeo earned her B.S. in occupational therapy from Utica College, her M.S. in occupational therapy from Tufts University and her Ph.D. in occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University. Dr. DiMeo’s research has included evaluating assessment tools used for assistive technology as well as exploring the role of occupational therapists in assistive technology assessment in the United States. Her future research interests include incorporating vocational skills in school-based occupational therapy at the elementary and middle school level. She is the author of “Matching Students to Augmentative and Alternative Communication: A Single Case Study” published in The Journal of the American Academy of Special Education Professionals. She has two decades of experience as an occupational therapist in pediatric practice including private and public schools.

Dr. Tee Stock has practiced OT since 1998, specializing in school and private practice. She received her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Tufts in 1998 and her Doctorate in OT from Quinnipiac in 2017. Dr. Stock has presented to multiple stakeholders including at three recent AOTA conferences and four state conferences. Dr. Stock recently co-presented an AOTA webinar on starting a private practice. She has worked in both public and private schools and has her own OT business which she developed by starting small. Dr. Stock conducted a study on the effectiveness of an educational program addressing transition planning and OTP roles during her doctoral work. Dr. Stock is an adjunct faculty instructor at MGHIHP in Boston. She recently co-authored a chapter to a forthcoming book called Quintessential OT. Dr. Stock is co-chair of the MAOT Pediatric Practice and Transition Planning Special Interest Group and is a member of MAOT and AOTA. 

Learning Objectives:

● Realize how to incorporate vocational experiences as a school-based occupational therapy practitioner and how to integrate these experiences into an academic setting ● Explore a relevant case study that involves the integration of vocational experiences and an elementary school student

● Understand the theoretical foundation of the CO-OP method and prerequisites for the CO-OP protocol

● Learn what assessments support CO-OP ● Explore case examples of the CO-OP approach 

● Discuss future topics and ideas
