Job Description:

  • Full-Time, 12-month, faculty position
  • Hours/schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, with some evenings and weekends
  • Location: East Longmeadow, MA

JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time faculty position in the post-professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program (ppOTD). The successful candidate will have a PhD, EdD, post-professional OTD, or equivalent doctoral degree in occupational therapy or related field as well as a strong clinical OT background. Expertise in the development and teaching of online courses and use of a learning management system at the graduate level is required. Major responsibilities of this appointment include teaching online courses and serving as a capstone advisor to students in the ppOTD Program. Teaching responsibility will be assigned according to practice knowledge with preference granted to candidates with broad expertise within the field of occupational therapy. The faculty member will teach a minimum of 24 credits per year. Faculty responsibility also includes student advising, participating in departmental meetings, committee assignments, and University functions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach a minimum of 24 credits each year.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional meetings, committees, and functions as necessary and appropriate.
  • Advise students in academic and professional issues.
  • Participate in the admissions process, which may include Open Houses, communicating with prospective and/or accepted students, and interviewing students as requested.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and other faculty for program assessment and student learning outcomes.
  • Participate in program and curriculum development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and other faculty to ensure program meets accreditation standards.
  • Engage in a process of formative and summative course evaluation to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Engage in appropriate and relevant professional development.
  • Maintain professional licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Maintain an active presence in online courses and offer availability to meet students' needs.
  • Attend faculty and other University meetings (e.g. Faculty Assembly).
  • Attend major University events (e.g. Commencement, Convocation).
  • Adhere to HIPAA and FERPA privacy standards.
  • Attend trainings as required.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the University.

 Requirements:

  • PhD, EdD, post-professional OTD, or equivalent doctoral degree in occupational therapy or related field.
  • Evidence of scholarly work.
  • Previous experience with the development and teaching of online courses and use of a learning management system at the graduate level.
  • Minimum of 5 years practicing in the field of occupational therapy.
  • Initial credentialing through NBCOT; eligible for professional licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, students, staff, and administration.
  • Ability to use the University's resources, notably technology, to promote effective teaching and learning.
  • Interest, initiative, and ability to work with the Program Coordinator, department faculty, and administrators for program development, implementation, and outcomes assessment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA privacy standards.
  • Submit to and pass criminal offender records check (C.O.R.I).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
