The Massachusetts General Hospital’s (MGH) Department of Physical and Occupational Therapy (PT and OT) is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and forward thinking leader to serve as its Director of Clinical Education (Director).

The collective knowledge and clinical skills of our therapists enable an extraordinary level of therapy practice. Our therapists also hold teaching positions in graduate training programs, are leaders in our professional associations, and are engaged in many community outreach programs.

 The Director is offered an unparalleled clinical environment upon which to build challenging and contemporary training programs and clinical experiences for the next generation of physical and occupational therapists. Currently, we have more than 200 students participating in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and inter-professional clinical education programs each year.

 The Director is responsible for all aspects of our clinical education and training programs, and functions as the ‘educator in chief’ within PT and OT services, directing and shaping the education vision and strategy. The key to success in this role is representing the extensive clinical experiences available at MGH to constituent groups internal and external to the department and organization. Additionally, this individual is charged with maintaining and developing strong academic-clinical partnerships.

 Requirements:

 ·       Graduate from an accredited PT or OT Program with a degree commensurate with current education standards. Doctoral degree (DPT, DOT, OTD) or advanced academic qualification (Ed.D.) strongly preferred.

·       Clinical practice experience in acute care and ambulatory practice settings.

·       Proven leadership experience within a complex health care environment.

·       Licensed or license eligible in state of Massachusetts.

·       Strong experience base with interprofessional teaching/practice with a proven ability to develop interprofessional training experiences preferred.

·       Minimum of five years’ experience directing clinical education activities, preferably within an academic medical center or related comparable experiences preferred.
